This is the year of famine on the mainland. The domestic prestige of the Reds is at its lowest. Why should the free world add to its prestige by admitting it in the U.N., at this time of all times?
At 3, went to G.A., to hear the debate on the Congo. The Cuban permanent representative, Bisbe,【1】 dropped dead, on account of heart failure. Boland, after asking us to observe one minute of silence, dismissed the Assembly. Bisbe, I was told, was a teacher of Greek.
Went to the golf range. The north west wind made playing very difficult.
