Lunch with Jay Lovestone. He talked about election politics. He thought that if Symington should be elected, Truman would be his Secretary of State. That is rather new. He thought Ike’s Latin American trip was a failure. Nixon now obliged to fall in line, will develop a policy of his own. Lodge is trying to get the vice-p. nomination. Why did Russia caution the Arabs to keep the peace? Because Moscow thinks the Arabs would lose in a fight with Israel. We talked about a professor of Far Eastern studies for Indiana University. I recommended 余協中,【2】 but later I phoned to tell Jay to recommend David Rowe 【饒大衛].
Attended a reception in the U.N. in honor of Ben-Gurion. The Russians and the Arabs did not Attend.

1957-1963年為空軍總司令，1963-1965年為副參謀總長。
後擔任國防部聯合作戰研究委員會主任委員，1967-1972年為駐約旦大使。
