Now it appears likely that Zhukov’s voice was decisive in Khrushchev’s victory. Even Bulganin and Voroshilov, climbing the band wagon of the opposition, voted against Khrushchev in the Presidium.
Harrison Salisbury thinks that Mao’s 【毛澤東] influence also helped Khrushchev. I don’t see how.
