Beautiful, sunny day. After a late breakfast, went with Sze Pao 【蔣居仁] across Central Park to 60th and Madison to see A Passport to Pimlico—rather ordinary. Walked back; took refreshment in the zoo cafeteria. Long nap.
Evening, Hu Shih 【胡適] and Mei Yi-chi 【梅貽琦] came to dinner. Talked about intellectual turncoats and sycophants throughout.
By 1 a.m., guests left. Family distributed gifts.
The publication Free China 【自由中國] should plan out its program. Besides educational articles on liberalism, it ought to carry articles on (1)
actual conditions in Russia, (2)
Soviet exploitation of the Satellite states.
