Cabled him to denounce the Treaty of 1945 【中蘇友好同盟條約]. Tien 【田保生] brought me the rumor that George was made Minister by C. 【蔣中正] on account of his agreeing to bring the case against the U.S.S.R. Told him not to believe it. Kiang 【江季平] brought in the news that Pai 【白崇禧] was not made Minister of National Defense because of C.’s opposition. I don’t believe it. Rumor that the U.S.S.R. would try to unseat me within 48 hours. Don’t believe it either.
