蒋廷黻日记>19490326
Warm. After breakfast, took family to Asia Institute to see copied mural paintings from Tunhuang. They were disappointing as art, but showed Tunhuang to be a veritable museum, from Pei Wei 【北魏] to Sung all represented. The Tang paintings appear to be episode without development, the later paintings reverting to earlier tradition. Went through the Wildenstein Gallery again. As Dubosc【1】 said, Tung Chi-chang 【董其昌] is more original than he had been thought to be.
Afternoon, went to Grant’s Tomb, Riverside Church, and Riverside Park. Everytime anything suggested N. Z. 【唐玉瑞], I wanted to vomit.
Evening, played bridge with the children.
