【1】指聯合國大會第一委員會，即政治與安全委員會（Political and Security），現稱裁軍與國際安全委員會（Disarmament and International Security）。
聯合國大會下設多個委員會，主要有以下四類，程序委員會（Procedural Committees）、主要委員會（Main Committees）、常設委員會（Standing Committees）、輔助性與特設委員會（Subsidiary and Ad Hoc Bodies）。
其中，程序委員會有兩個，分別是全權證書委員會（Credential Committee）與總務委員會（General Committee）；主要委員會有六個，除前述的第一委員會，第二委員會為經濟與金融委員會（Economic and Financial），第三委員會為社會、人道主義和文化委員會（Social, Humanitarian and Cultural）；第四委員會初名託管委員會（Trusteeship），現稱特別政治和非殖民化委員會（Special Political and Decolonization）；第五委員會為行政與預算委員會（Administrative and Budgetary）；第六委員會為法律委員會（Legal）。
除了有編號的委員會外，1956年原本的特設政治委員會（Ad Hoc Political Committee）改名為特別政治委員會（Special Political Committee），成為沒有編號的第七個主要委員會，通常表列於第一委員會下，1993年併入第四委員會。
第三類的常設委員會有兩個，即行政和預算問題諮詢委員會（Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions）及會費委員會（Committee on Contributions）。
第四類的輔助性與特設委員會通常是為特殊目的而設置的臨時性的委員會，譬如1946年就曾設置國際聯盟委員會（League of Nations Committee）及常設總部委員會（Permanent Headquarters Committee）等特設委員會。
