蒋廷黻日记>19450628
At 9, Henry【1】 of the American Advisory Committee came to talk about future co-operation. I proposed to him that AAC and CNRRA 【行政院善後救濟總署] should together go into Northern Hupeh: AAC to take charge of distress relief, CNRRA to be responsible for medical care and rehabilitation work. This pattern, I suggested, might be repeated elsewhere, if found satisfactory to both. He agreed. A group of Honan PPC 【國民參政會]【2】 members came to talk about Honan’s needs. After I told them what I was prepared to do for Honan, they insisted on asking what I had prepared for them: just a desire to make a speech. 沈祖同 came to lunch: he agreed to join me if he could resign his present position. Wrote out instructions for Cheng Tao-ju 【鄭道儒] and Harry Price 【畢範理]. Wrote a preface to Field Worker Handbook. Asked Price to wire to UNRRA 【聯合國善後救濟總署], urging continued support of the thirty-one experts in the U.S.A., until they could depart for China. Evening, dinner with T. L. Wang 【王祖廉], who is interested in oil presses. Talk about gold price.
