Warm, dry. At 9, report-conference of Investigation Bureau. A few had something new to say and said it to the point; the rest dwelt in generalities. I was furious: at different points, showed how the information was useless. Lasted till 12. At noon, had lunch with Vice Minister Shen 【沈怡] of Communications at Automotive Parts Factory. The engineer in charge, Mr. Wong, seemed to be very capable. Afternoon, sent a dispatch to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the draft health control treaty. Had a hair-cut. Came home at 5, slept till 6. Chatted with Tao-ju 【鄭道儒] for an hour. Gave a dinner to Hsu Tao-lin 【徐道鄰] and wife, T. L. Wang 【王祖廉] and wife, Fan Ho-nien 【范鶴言?]【1】 and wife, Y. C. Koo 【顧翊群] and wife. Bridge afterwards.
Shen, in seeing me to the car, urged me to speak to Gen. Yu 【俞飛鵬] about the importance of UNRRA 【聯合國善後救濟總署]. It seems the technicians were not happy with their minister.
