Another nice day. 9 a.m., cabinet. On my proposed delegation to UNRRA 【聯合國善後救濟總署] conference, T. V. 【宋子文] objected to my inclusion of Liu Chieh 【劉鍇]: he had his way. Hsu Kan 【徐堪] objected to the non-inclusion of a representative of the Ministry of Food. I explained that the reason for such a non-inclusion was because UNRRA had no technical committee on food. But T. V. thought inclusion was harmless: Hsu Kan therefore had his way. Some time ago, I asked T. V. to release Huang Hsien-ju 【黃憲儒] to join me in CNRRA 【行政院善後救濟總署]. Somebody told me that T. V. told Huang not to join me, adding that he would not wish any of his men to join me. Such an attitude, if true, is something worth my attention. Went through a whole list of people introduced to me for jobs, and tried to select from them some for the Investigation Division. Dinner with C. H. Wang 【王寵惠]. Judge Helmick was there.
