In Honolulu… Roosevelt meets with MacArthur and Nimitz to discuss strategy in the Pacific theater. MacArthur argues for an attack on the Philippines. Nimitz and the naval staff suggest the Philippines can be by-passed and Formosa should be the next major target.

On the Western Front… The attacks of US 1st Army continue. The US 7th Corps captures Marigny and St. Gilles. To the west, US 8th Corps crosses the Lessay-Periers road.

On the Eastern Front… Troops of the Soviet Leningrad Front capture Narva. To the south, the 1st Ukrainian Front reaches the Vistula River west of Lublin and takes Deblin.

In New Guinea… The fighting around Aitape continues. On the islands of Biak and Numfoor, Japanese resistance continues as well.
