BATTLE OF NORTH CAPE

German battlecruiser SCHARNHORST was sunk off North Cape. In the attack, destroyer SAUMAREZ (Lt Cdr E Walmsley DSC) was damaged. Sub Lt S J Thorpe and ten ratings killed. Eleven ratings were wounded.
