Submarine TRAVELLER (Lt Cdr D St Clair-Ford) was mined in the Taranto approaches on or about this date. St Clair-Ford, commanding officer of submarine PARTHIAN, was a temporary replacement for Lt M B St John, who was ill. Cdr St Clair-Ford, Lt B Hulbert, Lt (E) R D Verner-Jeffreys, Lt J R Wild RNR, Ty/Sub Lt E Hardwick RNVR, Ty/Lt H D S Russel RCNVR and fifty nine ratings were lost.
