Ocean boarding vessel NORTHERN PRINCESS (655grt, Lt D B Phillipson RNR) was sunk by U.94 in the Western Atlantic. Lt Phillipson, Temporary Lt L Kevis RNR, Temporary Lt E Shepherd RNVR, Temporary S/Lt J Macdonnell RNVR and all the ratings were lost.

Two battleship groups arrived at Trincomalee – (1) ROYAL SOVEREIGN with destroyers NIZAM and VAMPIRE at 0345/7th after escort duty with convoy SU.1, (2) RAMILLES with destroyers DECOY and FORTUNE at 1140/7th from Colombo. At 0313, before arriving in port, RAMILLIES reported a periscope, but a search by DECOY was unsuccessful.
