Martin 【王蓬] reported: (1) C. 【蔣中正] is determined to do something on the mainland, forcing the Central Bank to issue one billion extra of paper money and to exhaust its exchange reserve. (2) Chen Cheng 【陳誠] also says we must counter-attack. (3) George 【葉公超] is very unhappy, particularly because he is not allowed to leave. (4) George believes that he is in disfavor because of differences in policy. (5) Liu Chieh 【劉鍇] will most likely take over in New York.
Letter from Li Chi 【李濟]: that Wu Ta-you 【吳大猷], Chu Chia-hua 【朱家驊], and Wang Shih-chieh 【王世杰] had been nominated as president of Academia Sinica, that I received 14 votes.
Sent a cable on the policy for the 17th session of G.A.
Don 【蔣居仁], Claire, and the three grandchildren came from Boston by plane. Met them at the airport. Then attended a cocktail party in the Libyan Embassy and one in Korean. Evening, gave dinner in honor of Mrs. Ho Shai-lai 【洪奇芬]. Gen. and Mrs. Crittenberger, Kendric Marshall,【1】 and wife, S. H. Tan 【譚紹華] and Mary, Col. Huang, Don and Claire were the other guests.
