Luncheon at the Thai Embassy, in honor of Ambassador Kamil【1】 of Malaya: Philippines, Burma, Laos, Vietnam. After luncheon, we got to talking about students in the U.S.A. The Burmese Ambassador said that one of his students threatened to commit suicide. His cultural attaché phoned to the young man, asking, “Can you postpone your suicide for a few days?” The answer was “yes.”
Revising my speech for War College.
Evening, dinner at the Korean Embassy, also in honor of Kamil: the same guests excepting Burma and Laos. We talked about guerrilla warfare in Malaya, Philippines, and Vietnam.
State Department publishes a volume of documents relating to China in 1943, beginning of a campaign against C. 【蔣中正] How do you deal with it? Taipei will undoubtedly be mad.
