Last night, Eisenhower made a very lame speech on his trip to the Far East. The Ike administration began with the armistice in Korea and ends with this trip. It is mediocre throughout. S.C. meeting in the morning, on the admission of the Federation of Mali. It went off smoothly. The U.S.S.R. and Poland expressed their “sympathy” with peoples of Asia and Africa oppressed by colonialism and imperialism, their usual propaganda theme on such occasions.
