In the morning, went to the High Court. The Chief Justice made a speech of welcome of about 10 minutes, translated into English. The Mexican Chief Justice responded on behalf of the delegations. He took half an hour, a long torture. Cocktails followed.
At noon, Hilda 【沈恩欽] and I went to Besares, home of Liu Ting-fang劉廷芳,【1】 he was formerly employed by the National Resources Commission 【資源委員會], put in charge of tungsten and tin and wolfram. He had something to do with the local military leaders of Hunan, Kwangsi, Hupeh, etc. He has been in Buenos Aires during the last 8 years and has made good in weaving sweaters. He and his nephew personally attend to the machines. He has managed to send his three sons to U.S.A. colleges. We were with him and wife until 3:30, in a small apartment.
Evening, President Frondizi gave a banquet in the Palace of 25 May, a really grand affair. Unfortunately, I sat among Spanish speaking ladies, with only one of whom I conversed a little in French.
