晨七点半起。八点偕Briant family mr.Reg 、mrs.marjorie、Father Wrn.Spurr、miss Lucy Spurr 早餐，此外Reg之兄Walter 、其弟Ralph亦来。餐后偕Anthony Spurr 行四哩至Tropoley一礼拜堂做礼拜。行至近礼拜堂，遇Anthony 之二嫂Joyce与周岁小孩Anthony John。在礼拜堂自10：45行礼至11：30，又继续行Commun10n圣餐典礼。男女至坛前作跪。教士Haywood 以面包与酒作为耶苏之血肉，每人于其生日饮食，以期得福。此种礼节虽可笑，但亦可爱也。Tropoley礼拜堂虽小，但均系Sandstone 石柱，故欧美教堂可以经久不坏。
十二点半乘Anthony二兄George之车回Abbots moss Cottage，同来者尚有Tony之二姊mollee与其丈夫Edward Usher （住Shrewsbury ）与二子David 及Johno在膳厅中膳，共十六人之多。有Turkey 、Prune Pudding 等，均为正式圣诞节之食品。较之中国虽不能说很丰富，亦超出常人之量，而在有Rat10n 之欧洲，则更不易也。膳后并饮Port，分发各人礼物。三点照相。余新购之Contax 临时以FilmPack不能放好，由隔邻Charley 拍三张照。余与Briant 赴附近一走。
六点半晚餐，有冷肉、火腿与Christmas pudding o 膳后Edward U sher与GeorgeSpUIT 均回Shrewsbury。余与Tony 及其父亲、Briant 夫妇、Lucy，在Fireside 昕BBC之广播。有King George 6之演讲约五分钟， Anthony Eden 为曹者募四万Set rad10之演说。直谈至十A点始告别上楼。今日之圣诞，确为生平最可纪念者也。
