Midget submarine X.22 was sunk in a collision with submarine SYRTIS, which had turned to rescue a man washed overboard in heavy seas. Lt B M McFarlane RANVR, Lt J Marsden RANVR, ERA C Ludbrook and Able Seaman J Pretty were lost.
